What Is Pay Per Click?
The two most popular methods to promote a website,
online, are organic search ranking and Pay Per Click (PPC)
advertising. Both methods help in enhancing a website’s
visibility in search engines.
Pay Per Click (PPC), also known as
Cost per Click, means that an advertiser only pays when someone
clicks on the ad, cost paid is equal to the bid amount placed
on the searched keyword. PPC search engines interface
allows an advertiser to choose optimal keywords, create ads,
and place bid amounts on keywords, depending on the preferred
position. Unlike organic search ranking, PPC gives instant
results and higher the bid amount, higher the position.
There are hundreds of small and big
PPC Search engines, however, the two major search engines
are Adwords (Google) and Yahoo Search Marketing.
You can see PPC ads in both google and yahoo search result,
on the right hand site, under sponsored listings.
The result of PPC does not depend on algorithms, keywords’
bid amount decide the position of an ad. The results are immediate
and PPC Search Engines’ PPC Campaign management interface
allows making infinite change, if the PPC ad is not giving
desired result.
Why PPC?
1. Your rankings are stable. You decide on
your ad’s position by bidding on keywords. The more
you pay, the higher the ranking. If your competitor outbids,
you can review and make the required changes to get the preferred
position.
2. You are not dependent on search engine
algorithm to get listed in search engines. It takes time to
get position in organic search engine, whereas your PPC ads
are immediately active.
3. PPC advertising provides a better platform
to advertise services and products online and to reach targeted
customers/prospects.
4. You may be getting good rankings in organic
search results for certain search terms, but it does not cover
all the optimal keywords. PPC campaign lets an advertiser
use large number of keywords, which are often searched by
the searcher.
